Long Island, NY (March 2016)—Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI) will host a Meet and Pitch the Media event on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Melville, 1575 Round Swamp Road, Plainview, NY. The evening will include a networking dinner and interactive discussion among the communications professionals and the panel, featuring a stellar line-up of award-winning journalists: Ms. Christine Insinga, News12 Long Island reporter; Mr. Joe Dowd, editor of Long Island Business News; Ms. Ridgely Ochs, Newsday reporter; Mr. John C. O’Connell, executive editor, Long Island Herald Community Newspapers; Ms. Silvana Diaz, Noticia publisher and co-owner; Mr. Charles Lane, WSHU Radio reporter. The moderator will be Flo Federman, Long Island Regional Marketing Manager at Marcum LLP, and Press Club of Long Island member and past president of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island.

PRPLI’s Meet and Pitch the Media night will discuss current methods for gaining coverage in local and national media outlets. The generous spirit of local news reporters will provide public relations professionals to gain inside knowledge about what changes are happening in newsrooms; what topics interests reporters; how to be a valuable resource; and how communications practitioners can work most effectively with them.

“PRPLI provides a forum for journalists and communications professionals to network and discuss professional challenges and best practices,” said Kali Chan, president of Public Relations Professionals of Long Island. “This popular annual program attracts many Long Island influencers, and attendees remark about the valuable experience.”
