PRPLI Scholarship Program

Since 1990, Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI) has been the largest organization on Long Island for people who work in public relations and communications to network, learn, mentor and advance in their careers.

Each year, PRPLI awards up to two $2,000 scholarship awards and a complimentary PRPLI membership for one year. Winner(s) will receive a check for $2,000 (made payable to winner) and the PRPLI membership, both which will be presented at the PRPLI Awards Dinner in May 2019.

2019 Scholarship Winners

Ben Martin – Hofstra University

Ben Martin is a graduating senior enrolled in Hofstra University’s Honors College. He is a public relations major and fine arts who completed internships at four PR agencies; ID PR, Finn Partners – Media Connect, Devries Global and LaForce.

Ben considers himself someone who thrives in high pressure, ever-changing environments, which drew him to public relations. Moving forward, he hopes to utilize his knowledge of public relations to pursue a career in integrated marketing strategies and attain his MBA while working in the industry.

Lila Woodbridge – Adelphi University

lila woodbridgeLila Woodbridge is a junior at Adelphi  with a double major in Communications and Psychology. Since her graduation from a vocational high school studying media technology, Lila has worked in her field on a freelance basis, working as an advertising contractor for a local business and as a volunteer graphic designer for a nature reserve. During the school year she works at the Adelphi University Web Team, maintaining the website and doing graphic design. In fall of 2018 Lila began an internship at the Alive Inside Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to better the lives of elders with dementia through music and empathy. She worked as a digital media content creator for the organization and continued her internship remotely while abroad in London during the spring 2019 semester. Most recently, Lila was the chief editor of a documentary short about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial which will show at the Workers Unite Film Festival in 2019.

Scholarships for 2019 will be presented at the 29th annual PRPLI Awards Dinner May 8, 2019
