Social media is an important component of every business and there are ways to make sure that you are utilizing it appropriately to maximize your presence. Our Social Media Dos and Don’ts tip below will provide you with some easy tips to optimize your profiles and maximize your presence.

Do:
  1. Post video content at LEAST once a week! The Instagram algorithm is trying to work like Tik Tok: the more video, the better chance of being shown in someone’s feed, whether you’re following them or not.
  2. Engage with other accounts! Comment, like, and show love to other pages, especially ones close to your community.
  3. Post stories and post them daily! This is a great way to get around Instagram’s algorithm of not being shown in feeds. People want to see what their friends are doing, so there’s a good chance they’ll also look at your story.
  4. Cross-promote with other pages and share their content with your followers.  There’s a good chance if you tag or collaborate with someone on a post, they’ll share your post/feed in their story and you should do the same. It’s a great way to grow your page organically.
  5. Try to put some budget aside, even if it’s just $50 a month.
  6. Be consistent and use good imagery! Hire a photographer if you’re just getting started and try to keep your content “new and engaging.”
  7. Keep an eye on trends and evolve with them! For example, video is HUGE now, so it’s important to take note and act on it.
Don’t:
  1. Post just to post! Make sure your content is engaging and images are eye-catching.
  2. Use images that look like advertisements. Try to avoid using images with text overlay as well.
  3. Buy robots or followers! People can tell when your following is fake, especially if you’re getting no engagement on your posts.
  4. Don’t use too much text, especially on Instagram. People have very short intention spans, so if they see a lot of copy on your post, chances are they will overlook it.
