Welcome to PRPLI’s new season – its 34th year serving as a professional development hub for public relations professionals at all stages of their careers.

headshot of Theresa JacobellisForemost among the skills that PR pros need is adaptability, and the past three plus years have underscored that need. As we collectively emerge from the pandemic, I’m so proud that PRPLI has remained a viable organization, despite the challenges imposed by social distancing, remote work, and a virus that affected so many of us personally and professionally.
Thanks to our 2022 – 2023 outgoing board, we hosted a number of in-person programs last year, including two mixers, a Newsday studio tour, and our signature Meet and Pitch the Media night. We also learned about the Changing LI Media Landscape during a virtual program featuring Jaci Clement of the Fair Media Council. And thanks to our honorees, hard-working committee and guests, our Awards Luncheon was one of our most successful and well-attended events in recent memory.
Our incoming board has met to map out programming for 2023 – 2024, and I am excited to work with our creative and engaged team of incoming board members. We’ve some great ideas for field trips, educational programs and more!
Since it launched in 1990, PRPLI has provided valuable opportunities to network, learn and grow for those who are new to public relations along with mid-career professionals and veterans. It is an organization that I have been aligned with for the better part of three decades, returning to serve on the board three times. PRPLI is the place to be if you are interested in continuous learning and meeting interesting and accomplished professionals.
If you have never attended one of our programs, let this be the year that you decide to check us out. Consider becoming a member to realize the benefits of membership, which include discounted program admission, free social events, a weekly e-newsletter, free job bank, and more. I also recommend joining a committee as a way to forge new business relationships, make friends, and support the robust PR community here on Long Island.
We are open to your input and ideas. Please share your thoughts by emailing us at info@prpli.org. I look forward to hearing from you or seeing you at an upcoming program!
